Description

Barboleuse – Solalex – Les Chaux – Taveyanne – Col de la Croix – Les Diablerets – La Forclaz – Les Chavonnes – Bretaye – Villars - Barboleuse

“Grande Panoramique” is the ideal programme for discovering the mountainous side of the region: alpine pastures, mountain lakes and summits. The countryside is impressive and the viewing points are numerous along the route, crossing the three stations of Villars, Gryon and Diablerets. This itinerary is challenging in nature because there are major cumulative elevation gains. Those who are sporty may choose to cover 58 km of the route in a single day, whereas others may divide the route into two in order to enjoy the region to the full. Among the peculiarities of the course, Taveyanne and its nature reserve, the gypsum pyramids at the summit of Col de la Croix (between Villars and Les Diablerets) and the geological panorama of Solalex, are all interesting stops to make. You can relax by dipping your feet in the water of the lake or bathing in the waters of Lake Frience. Finally, Ormont Museum in Les Diablerets welcomes you in to appreciate a little of the culture of the region. Many accommodation options are available on the route, not only in the villages but also in the remote corners of nature (Taveyanne, Les Chaux, Bretaye, Chavonnes Lake, etc.). This route can be started from Villars, Gryon or Les Diablerets with the option of shortening certain sections during the high season by using public transport. There are many accommodation options on the route; not only in the villages but also in the remote corners of nature (Taveyanne, Les Chaux, Bretaye, Chavonnes Lake, etc.). This route can be commenced from Villars, Gryon or Les Diablerets.
