Description

Go from the Vallée de la Manche to the summit of the Rocher des Rayes and the Dent de Combette. The best part is the panoramic view of the Vaud, Fribourg and Bernese Alps!

Your starting point is the Manche valley. Situated behind the summit "Les Rodomonts", this valley transports you into the calm of nature. All around you, only the tinkling of cowbells reaches you. From the car park, walk up to the alpine chalet at "La Montagne au Manges". In summer, this is where the farmers spend the season making the precious alpine cheese L'Etivaz AOP. From the alpine chalet, continue your route through wild pastures and fir forests. If you pay close attention, you may hear the cuckoo singing among the dense trees. Once you have passed the altitude of 1,900m, the view begins to open up and you can gradually discover the summit of the Rocher des Rayes. From here you face the imposing Dent de Combette. The path to the summit of the Dent becomes a high mountain route marked in blue/white. The climb is quite steep and requires a sure footedness. This section is not necessary if you want to do the loop. Once you have passed the two summits, descend to the bottom of the valley through the flowery pastures. Between the rocks, try to observe the chamois enjoying the fresh mountain grass!
