Description
Also called the Via ferrata de la Tête aux Chamois, this route has all the physically challenging aspects of this sport combining climbing and high mountain hiking. Ranked ‘difficult’, this via is suitable for seasoned climbers who are not afraid of a challenge!
Near the Cabane des Diablerets, the start of the Via ferrata du Rocher Jaune can be reached on foot from the village or the Col du Pillon, but the easiest way is to take the gondola to Glacier 3000. The via is a 5 minute walk from the first gondola stop. The Via ferrata du Rocher Jaune is moderately technical but some sections require strength and a bit of courage. The route runs along a raised ledge, some parts being comfortably wide and others very narrow. The biggest adrenaline rushes are provided by the section across the Rocher Jaune and the mini-grotto you have to crouch to get through on a wooden beam. After two hours of exercise and thrills, you will have definitely earned a typically Swiss fondue in one of the region’s restaurants!

ACCESS: By car: via route du Pillon, Col du Pillon parking By train: Aigle – Les Diablerets (TPC), then by bus up to Col du Pillon Approach: 10 minutes’ walk from the intermediate station (La Cabane) of Glacier 3000 EQUIPMENT RENTAL: Equipment hire available from Holiday Sport, Jacky Sports, Centre Paradventure in Les Diablerets and McBoard in Villars.
