La Pension de Crochet - EVAM

Description

This 18th century farm has been a place of hospitality for over 200 years. Century. Around 1840 it first offered guest rooms, later it was expanded and became the "Pension de Crochet", an active and renowned hotel establishment until 1914. During and after the First World War, war internees were accommodated in the building. Since 1925 and for almost 50 years, it housed the "Institut Ascher", a boarding school for Jewish youth.

In 1982, it was rented to the Swiss Red Cross, then to the Vaud Foundation for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (FAREAS). Finally, the Canton of Vaud bought it in 1996 and entrusted its management to the EVAM (Etablissement vaudois d'accueil des migrants). Since then, hundreds of migrants have stayed there.
