The Pierreuse natural reserve is an ideal place to go hiking in the mountains and meet the local fauna!
The Pierreuse natural reserve is located on the left bank of the Sarine south of Château-d'Œx, around the Gummfluh massif. It also includes the high region of L'Etivaz, north of the Pic Chaussy. A characteristic landscape of the Pre-Alps, it includes, over 34 km2, several valleys dominated by high limestone walls and is an emblematic place of the Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut Regional Nature Park. Its landscape combines wild nature and traditional mountain pastures, where the famous Etivaz PDO cheese is made. The wildlife abounds in rare species: ibex, chamois, marmot, golden eagle, lynx or black grouse. Several itineraries are possible to discover the reserve. A one-day hike offering magnificent panoramic views starts from the upper station of the Videmanette (Rougemont cable car), goes around the Pierreuse mountain pasture and crosses four passes to arrive at l'Etivaz.

RECOMMENDATIONS - represents a federal free district - accessible in summer for hiking (mountain biking prohibited) - accessible in winter for ski touring (subject to good conditions) - no dogs allowed - no camping allowed ACCESS - by car: large free car park at la Videmanette, Gérignoz and l'Etivaz. 5 gravel parking spaces at the entrance to the reserve from the hamlet of Gérignoz - by train: via the MOB line (stops "Château-d'Œx - les Granges" or "Gare de Rougemont") - by bus: via the CarPostal line from Château-d'Œx or the Col des Mosses RESTAURATION - Restaurant du Chamois in l'Etivaz. - Restaurant de la Videmanette (only open when the ski lift is in operation)
