The festival welcomes balloonists from around twenty countries. Nearly a hundred hot-air balloons come to enjoy the exceptional climate of the Alps in winter. Discover these balloons with their unusual colours and shapes! Created in 1979, the festival presents a 9-day show. Balloons, special shapes, aerial shows and scale models. Wednesday afternoon is as usual dedicated to children: captive flights, a big snack and animations will surely brighten up the joy of some younger faces! The link between Château-d'Œx and hot-air balloons has a long history. In 1999, the Breitling Orbiter - piloted by Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones - took off from here for the first round-the-world balloon flight. It is possible that traffic will be slowed down towards the Col des Mosses and Bulle at the end of the day. - by train: via the MOB line from Montreux or Zweisimmen (stop "Gare de Château-d'Œx). During the weekends, the Transport Public Fribourgeois line is direct from the town of Bulle. - by bus: via the CarPostal line from the Col des Mosses (stop "Le Petit Pré").
