Exhibition - Tracy Lim "When the flowers bloom"

Description

Come and discover Tracy Lim's exhibition "When the flowers bloom" at Espace Graffenried.

In this colourful and gentle exhibition, artist Tracy Lim, a native of the Chablais region of South Korean origin, offers you her point of view as an individual and creator who has faced various cultural changes along the way. "When the flowers bloom" is a project launched in 2020 and completed in 2024, using the metaphor of the flower to highlight the symbolism of the artist's immigration experience. Tracy Lim spent the first third of her life in New York, then moved to Seoul before settling in French-speaking Switzerland in 2012. On her canvases of various sizes, she depicts Korean flowers called cosmos, the seeds of which have been sown in the United States, Korea and Switzerland during her family's various moves. These metaphorical seeds then travel across the continents, carried by the wind, to blossom into delicate flowers in fresh, tender, luminous colours. Tracy Lim's work also expresses a certain nostalgia for her country of origin. For her, the act of creation is a way of preserving personal and generational life stories. The bright, poetic canvases in "When the flowers bloom" are a gentle reminder of the human condition.
