The Bex & Arts Triennial "Vivement demain !"

Description

Attend the Bex & Arts Triennial of Contemporary Sculpture in Bex's Parc de Szilassy, a 19th-century English landscape garden.

As an artistic window on current events, the Bex & Arts Triennial aims to offer a field of reflection and work to contemporary artists in relation to societal considerations. The 2023 edition will be entitled "Vivement demain! This title invites the artists to look at the relationship between humans and nature, taking as a starting point the location of the exhibition, the Szilassy Park. The park is both a natural place with century-old trees and a space shaped by man since the 19th century. This relationship between man and nature, in which one influences the other and shapes it in its own image, has an impact on a very large part of the world today. And the Bex region is part of this in-between world of contrasts, with the raw ruggedness of the Alps on one side and agricultural, industrial or inhabited areas on the other. "Vivement demain" is a serious invitation to confront, through artistic creation, a future that frightens us, polarises us, makes us idealise golden pasts and contributes to spreading a paralysing pessimism. Nearly forty artists, designers, architects, musicians, dancers, actors, ceramists and video artists have been invited to design individually or collectively the works that will be displayed on the eight hectares of the Szilassy Park for four and a half months. Far from any naivety or negationism, in a world often subject to worries and alarming reports, twenty-four projects will be presented to you along a path made of questioning, irony, hope, and perhaps of lightness.
