The sun gently warmed the cobblestones as we set foot in Aigle, ready to play detectives for a day. Notebook in hand, we let ourselves be carried away by the Code de l’Aigle, ears alert and eyes sharp to catch every clue. The city’s murmur slowly faded as we crossed the gates of the Château d’Aigle: cool stone-scented walls, the hushed silence of vaulted rooms, and everywhere, stories of vines and celebrations etched in time.
We start our quest at the Aigle Tourist Office, where we pick up two Code de l’Aigle brochures that will serve as our compass throughout this Aigle adventure. The activity suits all kinds of groups: from small to large (up to 10 versions of the game can be played at once), with family (even with strollers) or with friends. Today, we are two explorers ready at the starting line.

We wander through the town following a cleverly designed route. Our quest is dotted with local curiosities: a mysterious totem, an iconic fountain, and even a medieval street named Jerusalem. As we stroll, we exercise both our creativity and our logic to successfully solve each game and riddle.

The treasure hunt pushes us out of our comfort zone. At first, it feels like an orienteering race, scanning every street name on the city map to find each riddle. Then, at every checkpoint, we move from puzzlement — “Did you understand anything?” — to admiration — “That’s so clever!”. We get fully caught up in the game and keep our minds busy for the whole 1.5-hour route.

We finish the treasure hunt with our hard-earned code in hand. The sun is warm, and we continue our city exploration toward the Château d’Aigle, looking forward to a cool escape. There, Nicolas, our tour guide, is waiting. We explore the Vine, Wine and Label Museum: an immersion in the world of Chasselas, from vine to glass, and the essential tools used in its production.

Our guide focuses on the château’s diversity. The long history of the Château d’Aigle is present throughout the visit. A sign of this diversity is the magnificent label collection… displayed in a former prison! Fun workshops offer an immersion into the wine world, from the Confrérie du Guillon and its Ressat to the region’s mythical celebrations such as the Fête des Vignerons and its iconic costumes.

We leave our guide and the Château d’Aigle, our minds drifting back in time. How shall we end our journey? With a walk through the vineyards? Or maybe a gourmet break at the Pinte du Paradis?
