Crowned Swiss City of Taste 2025, Aigle has become the national ambassador for gastronomy, local produce and authentic expertise. This prestigious title highlights a municipality where taste is much more than just a matter of cuisine: it is a living, shared culture, rooted in the land and traditions.
Located in the Chablais plain in the canton of Vaud, Aigle offers a unique sensory journey through hillside vineyards, heritage orchards, artisanal products and generous cuisine. Its rich and sustainable food ecosystem perfectly embodies the spirit of the Swiss City of Taste: proximity, quality and passion.
In Aigle, taste takes root in the vineyards that make it the capital of Chasselas. Chasselas, the flagship grape variety of the canton of Vaud, reigns supreme here. Its delicate, mineral notes reflect the soil that nurtures it, and it is celebrated every year at the Mondial du Chasselas wine competition held at the Château d'Aigle. This international competition makes Aigle the heart of this distinctive wine, which is both subtle and steeped in history.

True to its status as a City of Taste, Aigle also honours its culinary icons. Among them, Hugo Reitzel, founded in 1909, embodies the tradition of Swiss pickles. The only cannery still in operation in the country, it opens its doors to the public for a tasty immersion into the world of vinegar, jars and revisited heritage. A local pride that combines memory and innovation.

The orchards of Aigle and Yvorne complete the culinary picture with their heirloom apples. Grown from old, sometimes forgotten varieties, these apples are being revived by passionate fruit growers. Their fragrant flesh and hardiness tell the agricultural history of the Chablais region, bringing an authentic and sustainable touch to the local diet.

Aigle would not be the City of Taste without its unmissable treats. At the Hedinger bakery and pastry shop, golden pastries and homemade cakes delight food lovers. For a quick but tasty break, L'Échappée offers generous and inventive sandwiches, perfect for explorers of taste looking for convenience without compromising on quality.

Aigle's rich gastronomic heritage is also reflected in its restaurants, where diversity goes hand in hand with excellence. Whether you're looking for comforting local cuisine, Mediterranean specialities, Asian flavours or creative vegetarian dishes, there's something for everyone in Aigle. It is a culinary culture open to the world that is expressed here, in perfect harmony with the theme of Taste.

In Aigle, this distinction takes on its full meaning. People come here to taste, learn, share and celebrate. They leave with memories of a place where authenticity is a way of life and where every bite tells a story.
