The world is experiencing a period of rapid and unprecedented global warming over the last 400,000 years of Earth's history. The Alps are particularly affected, with average annual temperature increases twice as high as the global average. Changes in the upper tree line and alpine flora are two visible and measurable indicators of this warming.
