Description

At the foot of the Vaud Alps, the Chablais region is covered with sunny vineyards and abounds in natural and cultural treasures. The Sentier des vignes (Vineyard Trail) offers a wine tourism route to link the wine cellars and the main tourist attractions of this magnificent region on foot.

From Aigle train station, head towards the town centre and take the 3rd road to your left (rue du Bourg). Then cross over the main road to reach the other side of the Grande-Eau and go along the Boulevard d’Yvorne which you will find to your left. Crossing through the charming village of Yvorne, go straight on at the crossroads which will lead you to the Château Maison Blanche, a striking building from the 17th Century. Follow the road direction Corbeyrier until you get to the hamlet of Vers Morey. In the centre of the village, go right which will take you through the famous vineyards of Yvorne. Once you get to Vers Pousaz, take the first pathway on the left which will link up with the old Fountain district (Aigle). At the end of Fountain Road, go straight ahead in the direction of the vines. After a climb of some 300m, go down the steps which you will see to your right. At the beginning of the Ormonts Road (depot and train stop Aigle-Leysin), cross the cantonal road and head towards Aigle Château, a 12th Century monument (Vine and Wine Museum), going beyond the Aigle-Sépey-Diablerets train depot. Once at the château, wend your way through the Aigle vineyards in the direction of the Verschiez pathway. Go through the Grand Plantour forest and over the ASD tracks then follow the path on the left towards Ollon. Taking the Sentier de Provence trail, follow along the top of the Verschiez vineyards all the way to Ollon village (château, AOMC bus stop where you can take a short cut to return to Aigle). Once in Ollon, cross over the main road and take the « Ch. De la Roche » (2nd left). When you get to signpost n°12 on the vineyard trail, continue to climb on the left. Once at the edge of the woods, take a right and then get back on to the pedestrian trail on your left and follow direction Antagnes (salt). Having crossed the Antagnes vines and the Gryonne stream, take a left in the direction of Bouillet (salt mines). Then go towards Bex where you will come to the train station (option : after going through Gryonne, follow the river as far as the 2nd bridge at Dévens, climb up to Montet, then go back down on the right towards Bex). To find out the times of the trains returning to Aigle from either Ollon or Bex go on-line at www.cff.ch or www.tpc.ch.
