In the Tine forts, cheese has replaced ammunition and shells on the concrete shelves. This is where many wheels of cheese are matured to obtain a cheese with a unique character!
The forts are located on the border between the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg. Here the Pays-d'Enhaut valley closes in, leaving only a road and the Sarine river to pass through.
At the bottom, you can see the gorges where the water of the Sarine flows before arriving at Montbovon. Well hidden in the mountain, a door opens to let you enter the concrete labyrinth.
Accompanied by your guide, set off to discover these former World War II underground tunnels. Go through the different rooms of the fort and discover the cheese wheels that are matured directly in the heart of the mountain! A perfect place for this crucial step thanks to the stable conditions despite the cool or hot temperatures outside.
At the end of the visit, you enjoy an aperitif with dried meat, followed by a good fondue and dessert, all inside the fort, in a temperate room (except for the aperitif, drinks are not included)
The meeting point with the guide is in front of the entrance to the fort A1652. This fort is the one located on the right bank of the Sarine (on the right) when arriving from Château-d'Oex. Attention: do not confuse with the fort on the left bank of the Sarine which has the entrance on the side of the road. The gravel car park is located on the roadside, on the left when arriving from Château-d'Oex.
