Overview
In summer, swimming, paddleboarding and fishing are on the agenda. In winter, equipped with snowshoes or sturdy boots, follow the route that leads you to this magical place from the Col du Pillon. Between mountain pastures and meadows surrounded by conifers, with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the colours of the sky and the fir trees that surround it, the lake offers a unique panorama facing Glacier 3000.
Nestled at an altitude of 1,685 metres, near the Col du Pillon, Lake Retaud is a little paradise for swimming in summer and walking in winter. At the foot of the Palette summit, this popular destination for excursions in all seasons offers breathtaking views of the rocky ridges and peaks of Scex Rouge, Nägelihorn, Oldenhorn and the Diablerets glacier.
The Auberge du Lac Retaud overlooks the shores of the lake and offers local specialities that you can enjoy while taking in the peaceful surroundings.
During the summer, walkers and cyclists stop at the lake to cool off. Swimmers and fishermen rub shoulders in its waters, surrounded by rich and diverse nature.
In winter, the lake, dormant under ice and snow, can be reached after a hike or snowshoe trek from the Col du Pillon. You may even find a group gathered on its shores, enjoying the slopes... on sledges, skis or paddleboards, anything that slides!
