Wildfire risk: Restrictions in force in the Canton of Vaud

Restrictions are currently in force in the Canton of Vaud to reduce the risk of wildfires. Before your visit to the Alpes Vaudoises, please take a moment to review the applicable safety measures.

The Canton of Vaud has prohibited open fires and the use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices until further notice.

Charcoal and wood-fired barbecues are prohibited in public areas, except at permanent barbecue facilities specifically authorised by the municipalities. Gas and electric barbecues, as well as charcoal or wood-fired barbecues on private terraces, balconies and in private gardens, remain permitted, provided that safety precautions are strictly followed and they are kept well away from dry vegetation.

We thank everyone for their vigilance in helping to protect the Alpes Vaudoises and reduce the risk of wildfires.

Additional measures by municipality

In addition to the cantonal restrictions, some municipalities in the Alpes Vaudoises have introduced specific measures:

• Ollon (including Villars-sur-Ollon, Chesières, Huémoz, Panex and Antagnes): a total ban on lighting fires throughout the municipality, including gas barbecues. Bonfires and 1 August fireworks are also prohibited.
• Aigle: the cantonal restrictions apply. In addition, the 1 August fireworks have been cancelled.
• Bex: garden fireplaces, cabins with fireplaces, and charcoal or wood-fired barbecues are prohibited, including on private property. These restrictions also apply to events, including those held on 1 August.
• Ormont-Dessus (Les Diablerets), Ormont-Dessous (Les Mosses), Gryon and Leysin: the cantonal restrictions apply.
