Flying over the Alpes Vaudoises is possible — and we tested it for you. Take off on a tandem flight with PanPam Airlines, alongside passionate pilots, departing from Leysin.
We meet Marc-Eric, founder of PanPam Airlines and a leading figure in paragliding in Leysin, at the departure of the Berneuse gondola. He is not alone: with him is Mathieu, a tandem pilot who will be our guide for the day. After quick introductions, we head to our gondola. “See you at the landing,” Marc-Eric tells us.

The ascent gives us a first taste of the exhilarating altitude to come. The landscape gradually reveals itself, along with November’s unexpected guest: fresh snow.

We follow Mathieu to the most suitable take-off site according to the day’s weather. Three attempts will be needed: paragliding is also a game of patience! But one thing never changes in this sport — the stunning views that accompany every moment, even those spent waiting.

Then comes the take-off: we run, we run… and we’re airborne! Barely have our feet left the ground when the valley opens beneath us. We glide along the ridges in a silence accompanied only by the wind. The snow we stepped on five minutes ago gives way to autumn colors. We see it again on the opposite peaks, which seem to be calling us.

Above the village of Leysin, the altitude gradually decreases. How quickly time flies when you’re having fun! Facing the landing slope, the loop comes full circle: we run, we run, and then we stop.

With our feet back on the ground and our heads in the clouds, Marc-Eric welcomes us as promised. While we fold up the equipment, a few more colorful canopies take off in turn. We are almost tempted… What if we went again? Perhaps over Les Diablerets this time, with Mathieu, who runs his own paragliding school: Bol d’Air. He also offers tandem flights over the Alpes Vaudoises, allowing you to explore the valleys, peaks, and plains from the air.
