The vineyards of the Alpes Vaudoises are an ideal playground for hiking and wine-related activities. Nearly 50 winegrowers work passionately on the limestone soils of this region of the canton of Vaud, which stretches from Aigle to Bex, passing through Ollon.
Today, we set out to discover the wines of Pierre and Michel Anex, through an experience that combines gourmet delights, hiking, and wine tasting. Let’s go for a wine adventure specially designed for epicureans!
Easily accessible by public transport via the AOMC train line (Aigle–Ollon–Monthey–Champéry, stop Villy), we are warmly welcomed by Michel Anex in the late morning, right in his cellar. With the help of a detailed map provided by the winemaker, we easily follow the route through the vineyards of Ollon.

Thanks to the pleasant weather, we can admire the view of the surrounding snow-dusted mountains. The harvest has just ended, and the vines are beginning to display their autumn colors.

After about an hour of easy walking, we arrive at the capite – a small stone shelter once used to store vineyard tools – and are immediately enchanted by the spot.

Waiting for us is a beautifully prepared picnic basket, filled with local treats: trout rillettes, homemade bread, “à Bubu” Gruyère, sausage from the Erard butcher, fresh vegetables, a Vaudoise tomme, a bacon braid… and of course, the most eagerly awaited item – a 50cl bottle of wine from the estate! The winemaker’s basket is as generous as it is delicious, and we savor high-quality products, some lovingly prepared by the winemaker’s wife. It’s an authentic and gourmet moment enjoyed with a magnificent view of the Dents du Midi.

The sunshine invites us to relax, and the peaceful atmosphere feels truly idyllic. In the early afternoon, we make our way back to the cellar of Pierre and Michel Anex, where the winemaker awaits us for a tasting.
More than a dozen wines are produced here, crafted with expertise and traditions passed down through generations – and we’re lucky enough to taste most of them: Chasselas, Cuvée Blanche, Chenin Blanc, Rosé, Gamay, Pinot Noir, Gamaret-Garanoir, Divico, Two-Noir, Cabernet Jura, and Douceur d’Automne.
Michel Anex shares his love for the land and the vines with enthusiasm, telling many charming stories about his 3.5 hectares of vineyards. The full story of the estate can also be discovered on his website.

The wines of Chablais, especially the emblematic Chasselas with its refreshing character, are a real delight on this sunny afternoon. The winemakers of Vaud truly master the art of hospitality, and this experience amidst the vines of Pierre and Michel Anex is a perfect reflection of that!
We’re already looking forward to coming back soon – next time for a guided walk through the vineyards.
