For more than 20 years, the Valais branch of the Swiss Ornithological Institute has been working to protect birds in the Rhône plain, an area undergoing constant change as a result of agricultural development.
Ecological networks have provided a framework for the implementation of numerous measures to promote biodiversity. Innovative projects such as the cultivation of wet rice and the grazing of water buffalo open up unprecedented prospects for the preservation of species.
This is a long-term commitment, in which nature and agriculture are working together to find a new balance that will benefit birds and their habitats.
