Show: "La cantatrice empruntée" at the Château de la Roche

From opera to café-concert, via Dave and feminist songs, this slightly offbeat musical show blends a healthy dose of humour, a velvety voice, a colourful pianist and the genuine emotion of a modern-day opera singer, told through words and notes. A cabaret that brings together music of yesteryear and contemporary lyrics to recount the humble adventures of Alice and Béatrice.

To kick off this cabaret, a hesitant young woman, who has ended up there by chance, begins a monologue and, with the arrival of the pianist, eventually realises that not only must she ‘fill the silence’ of this theatre, but she must also sing. A singer and her cantankerous accompanist thus find themselves pitting their visions of music against one another: opera or café-concert? Male or female composers? Through their exchanges, the life of today’s artist is revealed in all its clarity. Their relationship softens and a budding bond brings to light the touching and authentic experience of two artists, two women, through words and notes.
