Description

This very beautiful hiking route of medium difficulty starts at the Col de la Croix. The path leads you to the Col d'Encrène and then to the Tête du Meilleret. The view is 360° on the Ormonts valley, the Dents du Midi, the Mont Blanc and many other summits.

From the Col de la Croix, follow the path towards the Col d'Encrène, then continue along the ridge to the Tête de Meilleret. To return, follow the path to the restaurant Les Mazots, then follow the road to the Col de la Croix (about 1km). At the start of the path at the Col de la Croix, make a small diversions to admire the gypsum pyramids, a geological curiosity formed by erosion. At the Col de la Croix, take the time to stop at the refreshment bar "Chez la Francine" or make a short diversions to the alpine chalet of La Croix.

ACCESS : - by car or bus to the Col de la Croix - on foot from Les Diablerets via Tréchadèze (2h30) - on foot from the Col de Bretaye (1h30) A FEW TIPS : - Plan your walk (route, length, weather). - Dress appropriately: sturdy footwear (climbing boots preferable), suitable clothing and wet weather gear - Take sufficient food and drinks. - First aid kit - Be attentive to changes in weather - Do not trample on grass or crops - Close all gates behind you - Put out fires, and do not make fires in the event of drought - Take your rubbish with you - If in doubt, turn back early
