Description

This introductory trail running course is perfect for trying out this discipline. This route in Villars takes you through the forest via the Scex hut.

It starts on the Col de la Croix road, along the little forest path marked by a wooden sculpture of a fox cub. Continue to the Scex mountain refuge which offers spectacular views of the Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc. Keep going along the Chemin du Bretaye and after a few hundred metres along the road, take the path on your left signposted “sentier des renardeaux” (fox cub trail). As you run down through the forest, you’ll spot the tracks of the cogwheel train line between Villars and Bretaye. Leave the tracks on your right and head in the direction of the Col de la Croix, the starting point of this route.

Practical Information

There’s free parking (10 hr maximum) near the Villars Sports Centre, 400 m from the start of this route.
