Description

For gravel experts

This loop, designed by multiple mountain bike world champion Christoph Sauser, requires a good level of fitness and technique. And yet, when you set off from Leysin, it all gets off to an easy start: you take the road down to Le Sépey. This is where things get tricky, with a 9km climb through the pastures to La Comballaz and then into the forest on a 4x4 road. The view is magnificent as you arrive below the Pierre du Moëllé. Take a break to enjoy it, as a new challenge awaits you in the form of a technical trail. Depending on your level, you can cover part of it on your bike, but some sections require you to walk. That's all part of the experience! As you return to the heights of Leysin, a final difficulty awaits you: a 3-kilometre climb, with a particularly steep gradient over the first third. Don't hesitate to walk, especially if your bike isn't equipped with small developments. Rest assured, it's worth the effort: the view of the Rhône plain and the surrounding peaks is breathtaking. And the last few kilometres back to Leysin are downhill, even if - as a final surprise - you start off down a path through the fields.

Practical Information

- Take the train to Leysin from the plain, the route is magnificent - Equip your bike with small developments to climb the steep slopes of this loop - Just before arriving in Leysin, stop off at the Prafandaz refreshment bar. Outside opening hours, a cool box with drinks is even available.
