Description

Walkers along the Stone Trail can enjoy a stunning hike through the mountains and learn all about the geology behind the formation of the mountains.

Starting at Solalex (Villars-Gryon), in the Vaudois Alps, this is a 10 km circular walk of moderate difficulty. From Solalex to Pas de Cheville, via Anzeindaz, the beauty of the landscape never ceases to amaze visitors, arousing a whole array of emotions. The grace of the Miroir d'Argentine, the troubling outline of the Tête d'Enfer, the sheer size and calm of “Le Plat” and the majesty of Les Diablerets competing with the Cervin could almost drown out the stories they have to tell. During this round trip walk, there are six fun and stimulating stages where you can experiment with the history of how a natural landscape was formed. Each stage looks at a specific element of the landscape (mountain, river, rock, stone). The Stone Path also includes some particularly interesting floral species like the Koch gentian, the bearded bellflower or the common dandelion as well as mammals like lynx and marmot or birds like the famous bearded vulture.

Practical Information

ACCESS - Possible access to Barboleuse with the Bex Villars Bretaye (BVB) train from Villars, Gryon or Bex. - Possible access to Solalex in summer by bus (pay attention to the timetable).
