Description

This circular hike takes you through the cool and refreshing forest at Monts-sur-Bex, covered with wild garlic and some remains of Bex-les-Bains.

Your hike begins at the Bex cemetery on the Perey woodchip path. Once you have reached the road, you continue your walk to the right, passing above the village of Châtel and joining the footpath to Les Monts-sur-Bex. The route passes under the hamlet of Les Monts and continues through a forest covered with wild garlic. On the way back down to the Chemin de la Solitude, you can see the old swimming pool of the Grand Hôtel des Salines. In the 19th century, Bex-les-Bains was home to many illustrious guests and crowned heads. This hotel, inaugurated in 1871, had its own golf course, salt water and sulphur baths, bazaar, post and telegraph service and stagecoach.
