Description

This 4.6 km hike takes you to the heights of the village of Rossinière. From the summit of L'Aiguille, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Vaud and Fribourg Alps!

From the centre of the village of Rossinière, access by car to the free car park at the Ratevel hut. Your starting point is here. Equipped with your backpack and sunglasses, explore this itinerary. With a 370m climb, you start your tour with an ascent through blooming fields and fir forests. Can you see a few roofs below? You'll be overlooking the little village of La Tine. This is on the border between the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg. The final zigzag climb takes you up to the summit of L'Aiguille, at an altitude of 1,713m. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Dent de Corjon, the Pointe du Chevrier and the entire Gruyère valley and lake! After enjoying a sip of water or a picnic at the summit, head back down to the Ratevel hut along the farm road of the same name. Along the way, a few cows are sure to be happy to let you scratch their heads. They spend the summer here on the Ratevel mountain pasture with the farmers, making the precious wheels of L'Etivaz AOP cheese.
