Description
This hike under the slope of the Pic Chaussy offers a nice view of the Ormonts valley. The descent to La Comballaz through the undergrowth is refreshing.
From the start, located at the corner of the Tourist Office building, in the centre of Les Mosses, take the small path that climbs through the fields. At the first crossing (road), turn right, pass under the bridge and continue until the next crossing. Leave the village by taking the road on your right which runs along the side of the Pic Chaussy. Enjoy the view of the village and its church. After about twenty minutes, the road passes through a forest. Follow it until you reach a crossroads at the place called "Mimont" at 1630m. At this point, take the left-hand path towards "Oudiou". This path climbs quite steeply but once at the top you can admire the panorama: a view of the Ormonts valley, the plain, the numerous peaks such as the Dents du Midi, and even on a clear day the Mont-Blanc. Then retrace your steps to the "Mimont" crossroads. Continue towards La Comballaz by taking the second path on your left. After 2 minutes, turn left at the crossroads. Follow the path to the next crossroads. At this point, take the stony path on your right. Continue your descent while enjoying the view of La Comballaz and the Mont-d'Or. At the next crossroads, turn right onto the grassy path and continue downhill until you reach a tarmac road. Follow it to the right until you reach the bridge over the river. Continue along the road which bears right just after the bridge. This road allows you to return to Les Mosses. Follow it without taking the cantonal road. After 10 minutes, the road stops. Continue through the field following the pedestrian markings, cross the bridge and reach the centre of Les Mosses.
