Description

This pleasant downhill hike between Les Chaux and Barboleuse offers panoramic views of the Argentine Massif and the Muverans.

On the uphill journey by cable car or bus, you get a glimpse of the Alpine meadows you will cross during the hike. Gryon and its surroundings lie at your feet! Once you've exited your chosen means of locomotion, take a moment to admire the panoramic views over the Rhône Valley, the Dents du Midi and the Muverans. Are you ready? Then head on down through the forest. You can soon see Lac de Frience below. The waters of this lovely artificial lake reflect the colours of the sky! How about a refreshing dip later on? Continue on the trail that passes near the lake and the Alpine meadows at Frience. Top off your hike with a short detour and follow the path to your right to the refreshing waters of Lake Frience and the designated picnic site on its shore. You can also stop here to enjoy the unobstructed views of the Argentine Massif. Shortly after the lake, the Frience mountain farm offers various farm products for sale (cheese, butter and other locally produced specialities). The nearby Refuge de Frience, with its panoramic terrace, is known for traditional and refined cuisine, which you can enjoy either in the cosy interior or on the patio, surrounded by nature. Go back the same way you came for a few hundred metres, then continue on the trail to the hamlet of Golèze and from there through the forest to the hamlet of Les Arsets. After a few metres uphill along the road on your right, you rejoin the trail in the forest before arriving at Barboleuse.
