Description

This trail running course in the Villars area takes you around the Grand Chamossaire, the highest peak in Villars at an altitude of 2112m. On this route, you will cover almost 1000 metres of positive altitude difference.

Starting from Les Plans de Chesières (near the bottom of the Roc d'Orsay gondola lift), follow the road that goes west on a flat surface then take the Sentier des Chavasses . At the end of the path with the sculptures you arrive at a crossroads and take the road which climbs steeply on your right, always straight ahead towards the Sentier de l'eau. You will follow the Sentier de l'eau to the Poutet springs, passing several entrances to drinking water works. This brings you to the foot of the imposing Grand Chamossaire. Continue through Lurtier, down to Les Cougnons and then turn right to the top of Les Perrettins. From there you will go over the Loutze to go up to the Lagots and pass near the Lac des Chavonnes. Follow the direction of Bretaye via the Col de Bretaye and then take the Bouquetins. In front of the halt, take the small path that goes down opposite. You arrive on a flat path, turn left and follow it for 150m to take the small path on the right which plunges on the heights of the Domaine de la Résidence. Follow the path along the stream and through the residence to reach your starting point.

Practical Information

Free parking at the bottom of the Roc d'Orsay lift.
