Le Bévieux via Frenières
Route Information
Description
Le Bévieux - Le Monts - Verneys - Frenières-sur-Bex - Le Bévieux A moderately challenging hike during which you can admire the forest at Monts-sur-Bex, the Avançon river and its waterfalls.
From the start in Le Bévieux (accessible with the Bex-Villars-Bretaye train), you first follow the Chemin de la Solitude, which will take you to the footpath toward Monts-sur-Bex. The route leads past the hamlet of Verneys and onward to Frenières-sur-Bex, where Laurent at Heidi's Guesthouse invites you to take a break. On the left bank of the Avançon, continue on a slightly rugged downhill path between mossy brush and waterfalls to Peufaire. At this point, cross to the opposite bank and continue on the road to Le Bévieux, your starting point. Top off your tour with a visit to the Bex Salt Mines (reservations strongly recommended) or with an educational detour to the Salt Trail (Sentier du Sel).

ACCESS: - From the Bex railway station, take the BVB train up to Le Bévieux. SBB travelcards valid. Tickets are available at the Bex Tourist Office, CHF 3.00 per person (free up to 6 years of age). - Parking available at Le Bévieux

For forestry exploitation reasons, the Plan Saugey - Frenières and Frenières - Les Verneys footpath will be closed from 9 August 2024 until further notice.
