Description

This 12km itinerary takes you to the top of the Rocher du Midi, passing through the famous Pierreuse nature reserve! At the highest point, a panoramic view is offered to you.

Your starting point is the car park of the Pierreuse nature reserve, the largest nature reserve in French-speaking Switzerland! Follow the gravel road up through the forest. At the bottom, you can hear the Gérine stream flowing from the heart of the Pierreuse to the Sarine. After a few metres, you are at the foot of the imposing Gummfluh, the emblematic mountain of the Pays-d'Enhaut. Its summit reaches an altitude of more than 2,450m! Continue to follow your itinerary towards the Col de Base. On the way, discover the exceptional fauna that lives in perfect communion with nature! Enjoy the buzzing of bees going in and out of their hives. They are in the middle of making the delicious honey of the Pays-d'Enhaut! Once you reach the Col de Base, set off to climb to the top of the Rocher du Midi. Walk along the path between the rocks of this massif. This summit offers you an incredible view of the village of Château-d'Œx and the region. And when you turn around... discover an unknown view! Visible only from the Rocher du Midi, the mountains reveal their rocky faces. Then descend to the Col de Base. The next part of the hike takes you to the upper part of the village of Etivaz, capital of the alpine cheese L'Etivaz AOP, before returning to the Braye plateau. Walk along the pastures where our cows enjoy the fresh grass to the top of the montagnette located below the Rocher du Midi. A new perspective of this famous rocky massif. Finish your route through the forests of the Braye and return to your starting point.
