Description

Reach the Grand Chamossaire, the highest summit of Villars (2112 m.) by following this medium level ski touring itinerary from the Roc d'Orsay cable car.

Walk to the start of this route from the gondola car park. The route passes through pasture and forest on steep slopes to the route des Tailles. From there, take a look behind you to admire the spectacular view! Continue gently down the road for 1.5km, then turn left to reach the Roc d'Orsay by passing under the gondola; an area well known to regulars which requires care if the snow is icy. Once at the Roc d'Orsay, there are a few hundred metres left and you arrive at the Grand Chamossaire.

Practical Information

ACCESS TO THE START From the Roc d'Orsay gondola, walk 10 to 15 minutes to the start of this route. When you are facing the cable car, follow the route des Layeux which goes to the left. At the crossroads, go up the route de Champex. At the next crossroads, take the route des Margueronnes which is on the left. The start is on your right after a few hundred metres. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT The Dynafit Rando Parc is intended for people who have the necessary technique, physical condition and equipment. The routes are signposted but not secured and you use them at your own risk. There are no patrollers or lifeguards on the uphill slopes at any time. The slopes are closed outside of lift operating hours (before 8.30am and after 5pm). Presence of grooming machines with traction cables - danger of death! The Villars Tourist Office and Dynafit accept no responsibility for accidents. Respect the safety instructions. Do not leave rubbish, respect nature and the owners of the land you are using! The forest is a quiet area for wildlife, stay on the marked trails.
