Description

Located on the western side of the Col des Mosses, this very sunny route goes through pastures and alpine meadows with a nice ascent that allows you to enjoy a vast panorama and puts a smile on the face of those who have suffered a little on the way up.

The departure is located at the corner of the Tourist Office building in the centre of Les Mosses. At this point, follow the cantonal road (direction La Comballaz) and pass in front of the hotel des Fontaines. After the hotel, turn right on the road that goes up. Follow this road, which is not very steep at first, then quite steep until it forks into the footpaths (1515m.). Then turn right onto the path to the small chalet next to the ski lift. Pass it and take the small path up through the pasture for 30 minutes to the tarmac road to "Sonna" at 1657m. Then continue across the road, slightly to your right, taking the wide, steep, stony path that winds its way up to the summit of Dorchaux an hour later. From this point of view, you will enjoy a very pleasant 360 degree panorama of the Mosses - La LĂ©cherette plateau on one side and on the other, a grandiose view of the Hongrin valley, its lake and its dam. For the return journey, retrace your steps to the Sonna road at 1657m. Follow the road to the left until it ends. Follow the path (slightly to the left) through the pastures towards the summit of Arsat. When you reach a small chalet, go around it to the left and take the path which descends gently. After 3 hairpin bends, you reach a fork under the ski lift. Turn right, direction Les Mosses. This new path takes you through wet pastures for a quarter of an hour. Then, back on a tarmac road, follow it to the cantonal road. Continue along this road and turn right. Count another 10 minutes before you find yourself in the centre of Les Mosses and enjoy the terraces! Option: do not climb the Dorchaux (remove 1h45 from the walking time).
