Route Information
Description
This 9km route takes you to a corner of paradise at an altitude of 1'600 metres. At this altitude, you can regain your strength with a cold drink and a traditional menu.
Bring good shoes and set off from the centre of Château-d'Œx, along the roads towards "La Dent". The cows will greet you through the pastures. Then take the gravel path in the direction of the Pointe de Cray, after a few metres of climbing, you will see a ladder on your right and this is where the route becomes more technical. After climbing a few ladders in the forest for a little over 30 minutes, the Cabane des Choucas is revealed. The view is exceptional over the whole mountain range from the Rübli in Rougemont to the Dent de Corjon in Rossinière. The warden offers you a traditional meal, enjoy a local speciality. Then continue your hike by passing behind the Choucas refuge, the descent to the village can be done by another route which avoids the ladders.
