Description

The snow-covered Lake Bretaye is the destination of this family trail at 1,800 m. Bretaye - Lac de Bretaye

From the Bretaye train station, you reach the beginning of the tour of the Bretaye lake after a few hundred metres, passing between the chalets of the hamlet of Bretaye. During this walk, you pass at the foot of the Grand Chamossaire, the highest peak in Villars, and can admire the Petit Chamossaire on the north-western slope. After this walk, several restaurants and snacks await you for a relaxing moment with a view of the Vaud Alps.

Practical Information

Departure from Bretaye, train from Villars center to Bretaye. Free parking at Rochegrise (limited to 10 hours), near the "Rochegrise" train stop Parking du Centenaire (paying), in the centre of the resort, opposite the station Some safety recommendations: -Find out about the weather and snow conditions before you leave (no departure without visibility) - Have a map or a plan of the route with you - Respect the signs and prohibitions - Always see the next marker from where you are - Beware of false tracks and do not hesitate to turn back in case of doubt - Make sure you carry adequate equipment, a drink and if possible a mobile phone - You take on the hiking, cross-country skiing or sledging routes at your own risk - We accept no responsibility for accidents, loss of control or problems caused by the forces of nature - The ski slopes close at 5pm, beware of the grooming machines which start their work as soon as the slopes close - Out of respect for wildlife and the environment, please keep your dog on a lead and pick up after it - Do not leave rubbish in the open - Pocket ashtrays are available free of charge at the Villars Tourist Office
