Winter in Villars-sur-Ollon

A winegrowing village nestled at the foot of the mountains and a high plateau facing south, Ollon and Villars offer tradition and modernity, village calm and festive entertainment, picturesque character and spectacular views.

Villars

Perched at an altitude of 1,300 metres above sea level, facing south, Villars has been offering its guests a wide variety of sports and leisure activities for over 150 years.

Thanks to several international private schools established in Villars for decades, the resort offers a cosmopolitan atmosphere frequented by all age groups.

The Villars ski area is linked to Gryon and Les Diablerets and Glacier 3000. The slopes are perfectly maintained for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Young children begin sliding in the snow gardens, while older children improve their jumps in the snowparks.

Pedestrians have easy access to the ski area and the high-altitude restaurants thanks to mountain transport such as the cogwheel train which connects Villars to Bretaye, the gondolas and the winter hiking trails.

A Rando Parc for safe ski touring, several cross-country ski trails , toboggan runs and numerous winter and snowshoe hiking trails allow everyone to find the activities of their choice for an unforgettable stay.

People looking for relaxation can also take advantage of the wellness facilities and offers at Les Bains de Villars .

Ollon

The commune of Ollon is vast and stretches from the RhĂŽne plain to the ski slopes of the Vaud Alps. No less than 23 hamlets are scattered throughout the vineyards, along the meadows, on a hill or at the edge of the forest as far as Villars. The summit of the commune, the Grand Chamossaire, rises to 2112 metres. The ChĂąteau de la Roche, a venerable building whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, is one of the most beautiful historic buildings to be found in the area. It is open to the public for shows, receptions, concerts and conferences.

The south-facing vineyards of Ollon, all on slopes, benefit from a warm and dry climate, influenced by the föhn wind. Vines with unique flavours are bottled by the winegrowers and can be tasted in winter in their cellars or in the restaurants of the region.

The small village of Saint-Triphon sits on the hill of the same name. Its "black marble" quarries were exploited from the 16th to the 20th century. Numerous buildings throughout Switzerland were built with stones from St-Triphon.

Several shops and public places are present in the village of Ollon. They favour exchanges and contribute to the village spirit of this area where a gentle way of life reigns. Numerous local societies also make life in the village rich in meetings thanks to the evenings organised during the year.
