In the heart of winter, the village of Gryon covered in snow inspires tranquillity. Surrounded by alpine peaks such as the Muverans or the Mirror of Argentina, this traditional village and its several hundred-year-old chalets are the pride of the Tâtchis, the inhabitants of Gryon.
Ski touring or Nordic skiing, hiking trails or snowshoeing, the network is vast and can be explored both in summertime and wintertime. Access to the ski slopes of the Villars-Gryon-Diablerets resort is easily achieved by the Chaux or Fracherets gondola.
Families really appreciate Gryon thanks to its many activities for children throughout the year. Similarly, the recreational area of Frience, perched on the heights of Gryon, is a real paradise for learning to ski or enjoying the art of skiing. Three toboggan runs of progressive levels have been laid out. A treadmill covered with a charming chalet-style wooden structure easily transports skiers and toboggan enthusiasts to the start of the slopes.
At après-ski time, locals and passing guests meet near the Place de Barboleuse around the open-air ice rink or in the tea-room of the Boulangerie Charlet.
Every winter many village events are held to mark the highlights of the season, combining tradition and modernity during festivals and concerts.
