The Alpine Cheese Trails
Description
Combine family hiking, unusual accommodation and culinary discovery: this is what the cheese trails offer. Each of these trails takes you to an alpine chalet, nestled at an altitude of 1,500 meters, in the heart of the pastures that dominate the Pays-d'Enhaut.
It is here, at the arrival of the sunny days, that the producers proceed to the production of L'Etivaz AOP. The escapade includes a night on the mountain pasture, breakfast and the discovery of the production of this authentic product of the Vaud Alps. Count on two to four hours of walking depending on the itinerary (round trip). The Etivaz PDO is the result of a great know-how, passed on from generation to generation. Every year, between May and October, nearly 70 farming families patiently transform the milk from their cows in these chalets. The precious nectar is poured and brewed in large copper cauldrons, heated exclusively over a wood fire. The cheese trails will allow you to witness this key stage with the producer himself. Spending a night on the mountain pasture, in the middle of nature, isolated from the world and with only the sound of cowbells, is the other highlight of these trails. You will have the possibility to sleep on a bed of straw, a unique experience. The nights are cool in the mountains, so don't forget your sleeping bag. As there is no question of going to bed hungry, the evening will be enhanced by a dish concocted by your host in the purest mountain tradition: chalet soup, macaroni and cheese or fondue. To be enjoyed quietly by the fire, while re-discovering the world.

From June 15th to September 15th Information: - adapted for families - dog not allowed - equipment needed: good shoes and a sleeping bag. - maximum 8 people per reservation - included in the offer: 1 hike (round trip), dinner as well as breakfast and night in the straw. - reservation online or with Pays-d'Enhaut Région Duration : - Hike: between 1 and 4 hours of walking depending on the itinerary (round trip) - Stay : from 5pm to 10am the next day
