Description

Located between the village of Rougemont and La Videmanette, the Arses forest is renowned in the world of music for its resonance wood!

Did you know that a violin is made from a specific tree? And that it may have grown in the "Arses forest" in Rougemont? Rougemont is an important village for its musical culture, but also for its quality wood. This forest provides internationally renowned wood for wind instruments. In addition, this forest has been studied by a research institute since 1905. Its geographical location allows the trees to grow slowly. The Groupement Forestier du Pays-d'Enhaut then takes care of observing these plants and identifying the resonance wood that will be cut when the moon is favourable. Numerous hiking trails lead you through this special forest! Let yourself be guided by the yellow hiking signs and the birdsong. If you are lucky, you will pass by the famous lake of the Arses forest. A magical place to see on your walk!

From the summer of 2024, an educational trail will be available for families. In October, the Festival du Bois qui Chante offers a musical walk in the forest.
