Aï lake

Description

Above the village of Leysin, at the foot of the Tour d'Aï, the Aï Alpine lake offers you an ideal place for a break in the sun. On foot or by mountain bike, all the paths run along the lake. Everyone can meet up before the descent to the village, or the ascent to the revolving restaurant.

Halfway between the revolving restaurant and the Mayen refuge, the area around Aï Lake is an ideal place for a picnic. Large rocks, scattered from the Aï tower, serve as real benches and tables to sit and relax in the sun. Between the rocks and the chalets of the old hamlet of Aï, marmots play hide-and-seek, accompanied by the ringing of cowbells. If you keep a low profile, you may catch a glimpse of one. Usually completely covered in snow in winter, Aï Lake goes unnoticed by skiers. However, it offers an unexpected alternative in the coldest periods, when there is a lack of snow, by becoming a natural ice rink in the hollow of the surrounding mountains.
