Making your own syrups - wild plants - Bex

Description

For lovers of refreshing drinks and cocktails, this day out in the meadows will teach you how to make your own edible wild plant syrup.

From flower to bottle, from foliage to beverage. What should you pick to make your own syrup? How do you transform wild plants into a delicious drink that can be enjoyed in a thousand ways? That's the pleasure of this Gathering & Syrup Day, where we'll be sharing our tips for making your own syrup and our own tasting experiences. MORNING Wild foraging is an opportunity to take your time, to forge a more intimate bond with the natural world around you and to discover new flavours. Picking your own food and being able to recognise meadowsweet, yarrow or a carpet of ground ivy is simply amazing! This time spent immersed in nature will give you a whole new appreciation of the green world around you and the riches it contains! LUNCHTIME To get you going and combine theory with practice, we'll be enjoying an aperitif made from wild edible plants in the great outdoors. AFTERNOON Will be devoted to making a wild syrup that you can take home with you. We'll share all our preparation and storage tips for guaranteed success. Don't forget to bring all the equipment you'll need to make this a memorable experience.

Practical Information

TO TAKE WITH YOU - A small "Le Parfait" type jar of 0.5 to 1l with a mechanical closure and seal (the larger the jar, the greater the quantity to be picked!) - A glass bottle of 1dl to 2dl maximum - A pocket knife - A picking bag (paper or cloth) - Something to quench your thirst for the day - Appropriate clothing to suit the weather - Good footwear (trainers, walking shoes, etc.) DIFFICULTY Walk with no particular difficulties (approx. 2 hours actual walking time depending on the programme). As the activity takes place entirely outdoors, with no possibility of shelter, you will need clothing and shoes suited to the terrain and weather conditions of the day. WEATHER CONDITIONS The activity takes place in all weathers, except in the event of a storm or thunderstorm. The decision will be taken the day before.
