Live in Eden has the great honour of announcing an exclusive concert by living guitar legend Marc Ribot to accompany the first science-fiction feature film, Aelita The Queen of Mars (1924).
Marc Ribot is a free electron, a star of the New York scene who manages to defy classification. The projects, groups and artists with which he has been associated throughout his career span genres as varied as blues, rock, jazz, Cuban music, metal and classical music. His illustrious collaborations with artists such as Solomon Burke, Chuck Berry, John Zorn, Tom Waits and Alain Bashung have made Marc Ribot one of the most respected guitarists of his time.
"Aelita, The Queen of Mars' is considered to be the first feature-length science fiction film ever made, and this influential film about space travel by Soviet filmmaker Yakov Protazanov is reinvented by Marc Ribot with a new score premiered at London's Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall, recorded live and released on the composer's Shoe String Symphonettes album for Tzadik's Film Series.
