Chamois Rut
Description
At the end of each year, the herds leave the mountain pastures, where the chamois begin their mad rushes through the mountains to preserve their territory.
At the beginning of November, all the herds have left their mountain pastures and the calm has returned, but it's also at this time that the chamois rut begins. Accompanied by Jean-Claude Roch, wildlife warden, you'll be able to witness the chamois mating season while hiking in the mountains of our region. With your early start, you can enjoy an overnight stay and breakfast at the Rayon des saveurs de la région. Picnics featuring Park-labelled products are available on reservation. You can enjoy them during the activity.
Practical Information
Equipment to take with you: - Mountaineering boots with profiled soles (no trainers) - Warm, waterproof clothing - Sunglasses - Sun cream - Cap or hat - Water bottle or thermos flask, minimum 1 litre in a rucksack - Picnic lunch - Binoculars (recommended) - Gloves and hat (depending on the weather) Practical information: - Possibility of ordering picnics made up of Park-labelled products - Offer for an overnight stay at the Rayon des saveurs de la région Meeting point: - Parc du refuge de la Planche, Ciernes Picat, Rougemont at 8.00 am *Park-labelled products **Park-labelled products or products bearing a regional Park label
