Located between Lake Geneva and the Vaud Alps, Yvorne is a charming village in the Chablais region of Vaud, ranked since 2017 among the most beautiful villages in Switzerland. Its harmonious landscape, combining terraced vineyards, forests, pastures and agricultural plains, makes it an essential destination for lovers of nature, wine and authenticity.
In 1584, a torrent of rocks destroyed Yvorne. Rebuilt a little further away, the village was reborn thanks to the vines. The former landslide became the Ovaille, a unique terroir that is now internationally renowned for its white and red wines. Dominating the landscape, the Maison-Blanche château watches over the vineyards like a lighthouse in a green ocean.
With nearly 160 hectares of vineyards, Yvorne is one of the largest wine-producing communes in the canton of Vaud. Its wines, particularly Chasselas, are famous far beyond the Swiss borders. The commune offers seven distinct vintages and several specialities, including an elegant Mondeuse and a delicate Œil de Perdrix, which appeal to amateurs and connoisseurs alike.
Beyond its vineyards, Yvorne also thrives on agriculture and horticulture. Vast areas of farmland are cultivated without livestock on the Rhône plain. The village is also renowned for its horticultural greenhouses, the largest in Switzerland, which produce an incredible variety of flowers distributed throughout the country.
Yvorne offers a journey through tradition, local produce and exceptional landscapes, ideal for lovers of nature, heritage and wine.
