Restaurant-Musée La Fromagerie
Rue du Village 4
1854 Leysin
Located on the second floor of the restaurant La Fromagerie, the Leysin Museum immerses you in everyday life in the 18th century, in one of the oldest chalets in the resort. Designed and run by enthusiasts, this museum carefully recreates a typical mazot (small mountain hut) of the period and invites you to discover more than a thousand objects that belonged to the Leysenouds.
In a series of small rooms, visitors can admire furniture, kitchen accessories, toys, as well as numerous posters and press clippings retracing the history of the resort to the present day. Adults and children alike can imagine life in the past, sometimes trying to guess the use of objects that have now disappeared or been transformed.
Several themed rooms allow visitors to relive different aspects of life in the chalet:
During the renovation of the chalet, the original wood was found under the walls and carefully restored, enhancing the realism and authenticity of the objects on display.
The Leysin Museum is not just an exhibition: it is a real journey through time, allowing visitors to understand and experience the lives of our ancestors in this unique mountain setting.
