You don’t have to go far to find a bit of coolness: in Villars, Chesières and Ollon, numerous fountains with crystal-clear mountain water offer the perfect chance to refresh your face, fill your bottle, or take a relaxing break in the shade. The water is fresh, drinkable, and a valuable ally on hot summer days.
In Villars, several fountains can be found along Avenue Centrale and lower down in the village, such as on Chemin des Râpes or Rue du Village. In Chesières, don’t miss the charming old-town fountain. In Ollon, the fountains in the historic centre provide peaceful shade under old stone walls and plane trees.
For a natural pocket of coolness, head into the nearby forested areas accessible on foot from the centre of Villars. Within minutes, you’ll find shaded trails away from the crowds and the direct sun. These little woodland havens are perfect for a post-lunch stroll, a quiet read, or a relaxing moment with family.
Tip: Look out for shaded benches or quiet clearings—perfect for a nap, a picnic, or simply a peaceful pause.
