As every year, the Col de la Croix road is closed to road traffic for the winter season. This emblematic route between Villars and Les Diablerets transforms into a true playground for enjoying the magic of winter.
The road will reopen in spring (usually around May) for the summer season.
On the Villars side, the snow-covered road becomes a favourite route for cross-country skiers, whether heading up to the Col de la Croix summit or towards the Coufin area. This panoramic road is also a popular winter hiking trail, particularly for those walking towards the golf course. Between forests, clearings and alpine vistas, it’s the perfect place to breathe in the fresh mountain air and take in the scenery.
This winter, don’t miss the photo exhibition by Thomas Crauwels along the Col de la Croix road, starting from Villars. His black-and-white photographs of alpine landscapes are truly striking.

On the Les Diablerets side, the road transforms into a unique toboggan run. From the Mazots (accessible via the Diablerets Express cable car), enjoy a descent of over 7 km down to the village. The more adventurous can even try the night tobogganing evenings, for a magical ride under the stars.
