TrekkMines exploration of the Bex salt mines

Equipped with your headlamp and helmet, the route begins with a short hike through the Forêt du Fondement. This will take you straight to the entrance of the Galerie du Coulat ! Then the TrekkMines adventure really begins as you lower your head and gently disappear into the bowels of the Bex Salt Mines.

You'll then explore the mining galleries dating back to the 18th century, before descending the 734 steps of the Grand Escalier to reach the traditional tour. With a length of 3km and a height difference of 180 metres in the galleries, this extraordinary experience is accessible to everyone aged 8 and over.

TrekkMines tours are nothing like pot holing. They are essentially tours through galleries and hand-carved staircases. Although this activity does not entail any specific danger, some basic precautions should be taken.

The different tours :
The three Trekkmine tours start at the Bouillet site with a short film showing the history of the place. Every person on the tour will receive a hard hat at this point.

• Le Coulat (for group only)
• Mines Aventure : Le Coulat route, followed by a meal (for group from 6 people)
• TrekkMines of Sainte Barbe : It takes place every year on the first Saturday in December (open to individual visitors as well as groups)
