How does it feel to be observed? With our modern lives laid bare, we have opened ourselves up to permissive voyeurism, with little windows for prying eyes. At our fingertips, we have the power to penetrate the lives of others with just a few clicks. In this exhibition, artists explore what it means to be the observer and the observed through textiles, painting and engraving, inviting us to reflect on the impact of social media on our personal and social lives.
Artist and weaver Jodie Anna Posen holds a bachelor's degree in textile design, specialising in weaving. She considers herself an eco-friendly artist, always looking for new ways to work with recycled materials and vegetable dyes or creating experimental yarns for weaving.
Fascinated by many aspects of weaving, Li Tabbouche creates mainly through weaving and teaches this art form. Colour combinations, patterns and textures are part of her ongoing research.
Nathalie Benoist returned to tapestry in 2018 after several training courses. What fascinates her about tapestry is giving presence, depth and warmth to an image by simply crossing two threads.
In her studio, Nicole Schlaeppi enjoys creating, engraving, weaving, repurposing and combining colours and materials. She seeks to connect her impressions of the world, to express her convictions and to strive for lightness.
