Mid-summer and Swiss National Day in Villars

Folklore, good humour and a summery atmosphere: once again this year, the committee is preparing an unforgettable programme to celebrate Switzerland as it should be.

Entertainment for all the family, concerts, food stalls, Swiss traditions and of course... a spectacular bonfire to light up the summer night!

The programme for this national holiday, subject to change, is as follows:

FRIDAY 31 JULY, 5.30 pm–1.00 am

At the Place du Marché

• 6.30 pm–8.00 pm: Recording of an episode of RTS’s Kiosque à Musique, presented by Jean-Marc Richard
• 8.15 pm–9.00 pm: Enzian folk orchestra
• 9.15 pm–midnight: Concert by the band Take One

At the Place de la Gare

• From 6.30 pm: L’Etivaz demonstration chalet: cheese-making demonstration
• At the Place du Chalet (opposite Villars Tourisme)
• 5.30 pm–1.00 am: Concerts by the Benjee’s, followed by the Chicago Boys Band and finally DJ Brice Patchet

On Place Centrale

• 6.00 pm–1.00 am: DJ

On Place 2021

• 5.30 pm–1.00 am: Concerts by Redubtion Sound – Echo Dna – Dub Central – Hi3pp

Along Avenue Centrale

• 6.00 pm: Parade by the Vaud Militia Artillery Battery
• 5.30 pm–10.00 pm: La Chtague street brass band

SATURDAY 1 AUGUST FROM 10.00 am–1.00 am

On the Place du Marché

• 11.00–12.30: Live broadcast of the RTS Music Kiosk, presented by Jean-Marc Richard
• 13.00–15.00: Enzian folk orchestra
• 16.30–23.00: Concert by the band Flashback

On the Place de la Gare

• From 12.30: L’Etivaz demonstration chalet: cheese-making

On Place du Chalet (opposite Villars Tourisme)

• 09.30–10.30: Ecumenical service
• 11.00–15.00: Lausanne Yodellers – Benjee’s
• 4.30 pm–1.00 am: Concerts by the Chicago Boys Band, followed by DJ Brice Patchet

On the Trottoir des Drapeaux

• 10.30 am–1.30 pm: Car exhibition by the Villars Automobile Club and the Forclaz Vintage Tractors and Single-Axle Vehicles Club

On Place 2021

• 4.00 pm–11.00 pm: Concert featuring Markkelly & The Peacefull – Warriors-Dub Central – Asher Selector – Whydah Sound

On the Place Centrale

• 1.00 pm–4.00 pm: Concert by the Nostalgic Band
• 4.00 pm–1.00 am: DJ

Along the Avenue Centrale

• 1.45 pm: Parade by the Vaud Militia Artillery Battery
• From 1.00 pm: Alpine Horn Society and flag-bearer – Lausanne Yodellers’ Club – Villars Halberdiers – ‘Le Cylamen de Roche’ and ‘L’Alouette d’Héremence’ dance groups
• 3.15 pm: Folk procession from Petit Mont (Bristol) to Chesières, Place du Rendez-vous
• 9.00 pm: Torchlight procession, starting from Place Centrale
• 9.30 pm: Official ceremony and bonfire at ‘Sous les Drapeaux’ square
• 10.00 pm: Fireworks display

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES: Friday 31 July from 4.00 pm to 9.30 pm & Saturday 1 August 11.00 am–8.00 pm

• Day pass: CHF 5 per child
• Venue: Maison de la Harpe tennis courts, with bouncy castles and games and circus workshops
