Basel Jazz Orchestra

For this special concert as part of the Aiglon College concert series, the BJO will showcase singers and take the audience on a journey through the rich history of jazz, from classic swing era pieces to bold modern works. At a time when big bands are becoming increasingly rare due to their size and complexity, the BJO proudly stands out as a creative and dynamic force, not only on the Swiss jazz scene, but also internationally thanks to its diverse and international work and programming.

Basel Jazz Orchestra (BJO)

The Basel Jazz Orchestra is one of Switzerland's most exciting and innovative young big bands. Composed of 18 professional musicians from around the world and performing compositions written by the ‘BJO Composers Collective’, a group of forward-thinking local and international composers, the ensemble is dedicated to reinventing jazz and contemporary music for the 21st-century big band. Since 2023, the BJO has been performing regularly every month at Basel's renowned Bird's Eye Jazz Club, where it has built a solid reputation for artistic excellence and originality in its programming.
